ACU Donates Life-Saving Equipment
“It’s this type of equipment that keeps our citizens safe”, said Chicopee Mayor, Michael Bissonette as Aldenville Credit Union President and CEO Daniel Zajchowski recently presented the Chicopee Fire Department with two critical pieces of life-saving equipment. The gift of an $8,000 Bullard Thermal Imaging camera and a $15,000 Auto Pulse cardiopulmonary resuscitation machine are the Credit Union’s most recent donations this year to community organizations and other worthy causes. Mr. Zajchowski said, “We are always trying to be a good citizen.”
Thermal Imaging cameras allow firefighters to locate hot spots, entry points and ventilation areas as well as where and how a fire has spread. Chicopee Fire Chief Stephen Burkott pointed out the camera’s search and rescue applications, allowing firefighters to find people in smoke-filled buildings.
An Auto Pulse resuscitation machine makes it possible for someone to receive cpr without interruption. This can be difficult at times, especially when the person is being transported. The city of Chicopee has two ambulances but shared one Auto Pulse unit, and the Credit Union’s gift will make it possible for each ambulance to carry this critical piece of equipment to aid people in cardiac arrest.
